Wooden Bowls

Liberty Carvings has the capacity to turn wooden bowls to 22" diameter. We offer a line of salad and fruit bowls in glued-up kiln-dried cedar, or in solid blocks of Nicaraguan ribbonned hardwood. We normally finish the bowls with a varnish or an oil finish, to inhibit checking.

We also can provide hand-carved bowls, in rectangular or oval shapes, with attached handles, feet, etc, to your design. We can carve patterns on the outside or inside of a turned bowl. A nice touch is a fully gouge-marked surface, inside and out on a turned bowl. We can also provide the bowls painted before varnishing, with fine vines, flowers, or as per our customer’s request.

Thise bowls are 3 to 3 1/2" high, turned and carved in the tropical hardwood Genisero. They are finished with a bright lacquer finish and are suitable for a fruit or display bowl.

Please note: We have a variety of smaller, plain turned bowls in Guapinol, all finished with polyurethane. These are between 8 - 12" diameter, of various shapes. Some of these bowls are seconds, with minor checks or disfigurations. We offer all our seconds at a 50% discount. Please inquire.

A 22" diam x 8 1/2" high bowl with a fully gouged surface. Tropical hardwood Genisero. This bowl is finished in pharmacy-grade mineral oil, and is suitable as a working salad bowl. The finish can be replenished repeatedly.

A 22" diam x 8 1/2" high bowl in Genisero, uncarved, with a smooth surfrace, finished with lacquer. The lacquer gives a fancy, shiny surface which is so thin it seems you can touch the actual wood. The bowl can be used for salads if cleaned immediatly; however, it is more suitable as a fruit bowl, as the lacquer will not stand up to heavy usage.
